You have stem cells from each of your babies in your brain

The physical and emotional link between a mother and her child is about as close as a relationship can be. New research now shows the physical connection is even deeper than anyone previously thought.

Stem cells from the fetus have now been found in many areas of the mother’s brain, heart and other organs. These stem cells are ‘pluripotent’ that is, they can potentially be induced to form many different cells lines such as brain or cardiac tissue and help in regeneration.

Another study illustrated their potential. The heart of pregnant animals were damaged by blockage of a coronary artery, simulating a severe heart attack, though this was not lethal. Later after the animals delivered, the heart was examined. Stem cells from their fetus had migrated to the damaged mother’s heart and helped it repair itself.

These cells from each and every one of your children are there, in your brain and heart…. for life. And they will all still be there when you die.

    Thank you for this article! I was adopted 62 years ago to a wonderful family~ but there is something in this article that even increases my respect for my birth mother. I have spent my professional career as an RN, giving stem cells and bone marrow infusions MURBMT to many a kid-0 and this makes it all even have greater significance in my heart and mind!     “Pregnancy after onset of MS is associated with a longer duration until wheelchair dependence develops compared to never pregnant women or those who had children only before onset of the disease, and less risk of conversion to secondary progressive MS…An Australian study found that the risk of women developing MS halves with each child born, and is not affected by time since last birth, suggesting that the protective effect is due to pregnancy and is lifelong.”

    As a mother of loss to adoption, separated for 40 yrs, reading this article gives me leverage to explain the mother and baby separated physically due to adoption, I believe IS ALWAYS CONNECTED, I believe the umbilical link is what kept me going in the darkest of times, I also had felt my baby visit my conscience, there I would soul talk to my baby, and feel we had connected through conscience.The umbilical link never severs, the Mother of Loss to Adoption will have a measure of comfort and validation as MOTHER, and not birth-mother.

    There’s all sorts of amazing research on how fetal cells persist in the mother’s body, even cells from babies who were miscarried before the mother knew she was pregnant. For decades after a pregnancy, fetal cells rush to the site of injury or illness in the mother’s body to help heal her. The studies on this have extraordinary implications.     Maybe why multiples (twins for example) ate also so connected. I wonder if they share each others stem cells as well?
